"Thy will, not mine be done."
         Is that so hard to say,
So hard to do? To let
         The Saviour have his way?

If we shall draw the chart
         According to our plan,
We'll surely meet defeat,
         And win, we never can.

Surely, He knoweth best;
         He's traveled all the way
From first to last. He knows
         The path by night or day.

He knows what we should do,
         He knows what we should be;
And more that that, He cares –
         He cares for you and me.

So why not look to Him,
         And say, "My blessed Lord
I give my life to live
         According to Thy word.

I will Thy voice obey,
         The Holy Ghost I'll heed;
Teach my, O Lord, Thy way,
         And lead me, Lord, I plead."*

        Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.
For what is your life? It is even a vapour,
that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
        For that ye ought to say, if the Lord will,
we shall live, and do this, or that. James 4:14,15

        Psalm 127:1 says, Except the Lord build the house,
they labour in vain that build it.
    Too, that great "Except" holds true in the building of a nation,
a church, a home, or and individual life.

     Psalms 22, 23, and 24 picture Jesus Christ as my Saviour,
as my Shepherd,
and as my Sovereign, respectively.
     If Jesus is not your Saviour, you are still in your sins;
     If Jesus is not your Shepherd, you are going astray;
     If Jesus is not your Sovereign, your should yield yourself to Him.

You have salvation because Jesus has come;
you have forgiveness because Jesus lives at the right hand of God;
you have a hope because Jesus is going to come back again.

Jesus died for sin in order that we might not have to die in sin.

        I may not be a powerful preacher of the Gospel,
but I am a preacher of the powerful Gospel.

Your outside usually lets people know just exactly what is on the inside.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Evangelist and Pastor, Dr. Marvin Lewis

In the original book the last line of this poem is :

And lead me, Lord, me lead.
   In Dr. Lewis' personal copy he had made a note changing the last two words
from me lead to I plead.
So I have placed those words he seemed to most want in this online copy of his book.
