It isn't what you preach, my friend,
That leads men to the Lord;
It's how you live the thing you preach,
And how you live the Word.
It's not just what you say, my friend,
That points men to the Lamb;
But how you live your sermon out
Amongst your fellowman.
It isn't what you talk about,
Nor how you sing and pray
So much as how you daily bear
Your cross along life's way.
The Lord would have us testify,
Would have us speak and pray;
The lord would have us sing and shout
And witness ev'ry day.
But back of all the words we speak,
And all the things we do,
He wants our lights of love to shine
From hearts sincere and true.
