He promised life – to save me from this life
          of sin and shame;
And now I live: eternal life I have
          through Jesus' Name.

He promised strength – He knew that I was of
          a sinful race,
But, oh, the strength that comes to me
          from His eternal grace!

He promised joy – and, yes, the joy that
          floods my very soul
Is worth ten thousand times the joy that
          this old world affords.

He promised peace – "My peace I'll leave with
          you," He said one day;
And now His peace has driven all my doubts
          and fears away.

He promised Heaven – eternal home of love
          and rest so fair;
My home of rest forever blest; some day
          I'm going there.

He promised, yes, He promised; you can take
          Him at His Word;
Not one spoken has He broken – a never-failing
          God.
"Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto His people Israel,
according to ALL that He promised:
there hath not failed ONE word of all His good promise,
which He promised by the hand of Moses His servant." I Kings 8:56
