No doubt, David could have used a sling and played on a harp better than I, but David did not have a better Shepherd than I have. He said, "The Lord is my Shepherd." I too can say, "The Lord is my Shepherd." Can you say for yourself, "The Lord is your Shepherd"? Oh, how we need a Shepherd in times like these! You cannot direct your own life victoriously in your own strength and wisdom, but if the Lord is your Shepherd, and you heed His voice, you cannot be defeated. "I shall not want" for any need, because the Shepherd will supply all my need according to His riches in glory. When I want rest I hear Him say, "Come unto me." When I want peace He says, "My peace I give unto you." When I meet tribulations in the world He replies, "Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." When I tell Him I am lonely He answers, " I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." The Lord is a Shepherd of love and care. Are you "safe in the fold," or "out in the cold"? He's tenderly calling, "Come home." |
