      OPEN THY MOUTH WIDE

"Open thy mouth wide, Lord Jesus Christ
and I will fill it
"
                              Psalm 81:10
Someone has said that there are approximately 32,000 promises in the Word of God. All of these promises can be summed up in the verse found in Rev. 22:17 where it says, "And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely." The Lord has not only made promises to us, but He is able to fulfill to the letter every promise He has made. In I Kings 8:56 we read, "Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to ALL that He promised: there hath not failed ONE word of all His good promise, which He promised by the hand of Moses His servant."
One of the most unusual promises that we have in the Book is the one found in Ps 81:10 where the Lord says to Israel, "Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it." And He is not talking about "tater puddin, n' punkin pie" either, though He has promised to "supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:19). God simply wants us to completely trust in Him and rest upon His Word, thus making it possible for us to be filled with the greatest number of blessings.
God made this promise to Israel. Let us see what happened:
"I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:
open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels. Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways! I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries. The haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto Him: but their time should have endured forever. He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee" (Psalm 81:10-16).
You see, they failed to open their mouths wide and the Lord could not bless them and fill them.
I wonder if we take Him at His Word, or do we keep our mouths closed so firmly that He cannot pour the blessings in? If we are tired, despondent, blue, hungry, weary, lonesome, puzzled, sick, "broke", or unhappy, just listen to the Lord: "Open thy mouth WIDE, and I will fill it."
