      #25For Me and My House

   "Now therefore fear the Lord,

and serve him in sincerity and in truth:

and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood,
and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord.
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord,
choose you this day whom ye will serve;   whether
the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood,
or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell:
but
as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
"
                             Joshua 24:14,15
THAT is just about the best way in the world to win souls to the Lord. Let the people know that they can make their own choice, but try to get them to decide for the Lord, and then let them know for a certainty that so far as you are concerned, you are going to serve the Lord.
Joshua was making his last great speech to the people of Israel. He had lived the life before them for many years. He had been a man of might, a man of faith, and a man of victory. He knew the vainness of serving other gods for he had seen it tried. He also knew the glory and joy and fruit in serving the real God because he himself had it for many years. No wonder the people made such a wonderful response and decision after this message of choice. They said, "God forbid that we should forsake the Lord, to serve other gods." Joshua had told them they could serve others if they wished, but for him and his it was going to be none other than the real Lord.
What decision have we made? Whom are we going to serve? May God help us to make the right kind of choice.
   It pays to serve Jesus
   It pays ev'ry day,
It pays every step of the way.
