"And the patriarchs, moved with envy,

sold Joseph into Egypt:
but
God was with him.
"
                             Acts 7:9
GOD was with Joseph at a time when he was hated and despised by his own brothers, his own loved ones. Thank the Lord that His friendship is not according to the friendship of the world or the people of it. He is "a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." When others were willing to sell him as a slave or servant, God was close by his side.
God was with Joseph amongst strangers of another land. Joseph was sold into Egypt, but immediately he was in the favor of the king and all the others around him.
God was not only with Joseph for the sake of Joseph, but also for the sake of those who did not deserve any mercy, for the sake of his brethren. Later, God used the very one they despised most to be a real blessing to them, and a means of saving them from perishing in the famine God had sent to the land. It is far better to be despised and rejected by people and have the favor of the Lord, than it is to be lost, having no hope and without God in the world.
