THE Lord gave Adam every privilege he could possibly desire, even the blessed privilege of choice. Adam willingly transgressed the Divine law of God, and as a result of his transgression God's law was vindicated in punishment of sin. The Devil is still telling people that they shall not die even if they do sin and disobey the Lord, but that does not change the fact one bit. Romans 6:23 is just as true today as it has always been, "The wages of sin is death."
God drove Adam and Eve from the Garden in which He had placed them, but He gave them such wonderful warning beforehand. The Devil never warns people concerning the results of sin, but the Lord always does. God never sends the judgment without first of all sending the warning. During the days before the flood, the Lord, through Noah, warned the people of the approaching judgment, the coming flood. Noah was a preacher of righteousness for one hundred twenty years, nevertheless the people continued in their sin until the day that Noah and his family entered into the ark, and the flood came just as God had spoken. Before Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed with fire and brimstone from heaven, God had given the warning telling the people it was going to come. He even sent angels into the city to bring Lot out before its destruction.
People have never been willing, as a nation or nations, to believe the Lord. Today God is so definitely warning people that the Lord Jesus Christ is going to soon come back taking vengeance upon them that know not God, yet there is a great disbelieving and rejecting of the fact, even from pulpit to street corner. There are many scoffers and mockers laughing at the idea, but the Lord's decisions are not made as a result of the opinions of men. Just because the people of the days of Noah did not believe the Word of the Lord did not keep any one of them from being lost. And just because people fail to believe that "the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout" is not going to keep Him from doing it. And just because foolish ones might laugh at the idea of souls crying for rocks and mountains to fall upon them to hide them from the face of Him that sitteth upon the throne, is not going to keep these petitions from being made. As God has spoken so shall it come to pass.
Adam seemingly disbelieved his Lord, and as a result of it we have the Scripture, "As by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned"(Romans 5:12).
