      #5Jesus Found Him

"They answered and said unto him,
Thou wast altogether born in sins,
and dost thou teach us?
And they cast him out.
Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him,
He said unto him, "Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
"
                             John 9:34,35
THE little word but is not used in those verses, but we find such a striking contrast there, that we must not pass it by. In order for us to really get the difference or contrast, I want to quote that Scripture, correctly but differently, leaving out some of the words.
Notice the words: "And they cast him out; Jesus... found him." The poor blind man had been healed by the Son of God. Some of the hypocritical Jews did not want the Lord to get the glory, so they tried in every way they could to cause the man who had been healed to ignore Jesus, but the man would not do it, because it was Jesus who had healed him. The man had a very personal experience. He did not know who Jesus was, but "One thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see," and the man who had been blind told the Jews that if Jesus had not been of God He could not have opened his eyes, and when the Jews thought that they could get no farther with him they cast him out. They were too good and too proud, and too high and too holy for the poor man who had been born in sins, so they ignored him and had nothing more to do with him. The man, so far as the Jews, and so far as society were concerned, was nothing but an outcast, but the Lord Jesus came to seek and to save the outcasts like him and me (and you), so when the Lord heard that the Jews had thrown him down He immediately went and found him. There is none too low or too high for the Lord, but it is so seldom that the so-called "higher-ups" want the Lord.
The Lord Jesus Christ wants young people when the devil wants them; the Lord wants them when society wants them; the Lord wants them when the world is calling them and luring them; the Lord wants them when the modernistic church programs want them; but the wonderful thing about our Saviour is this: He will take us even when the Devil, the world, the church and society forsake us and cast us out from their presence. Thank God that He can and will save the "bummiest of bums" if they will only come to Him for salvation. No one has ever called upon the Son of God for salvation from an earnest sincere heart, and has then gone away without salvation. "Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out" (John 6:37).
One night, while I was conducting services in the City Mission in Erie, Pa., I saw three transient bums walk down to the front for prayer. After the personal workers had dealt with them, I started to take one of them by the hand and give him a few words of encouragement. When the man took my hand he said, "I have been all over this country and have tried everything the world has to offer, but I want to tell you right now that from now on I am going to try your Saviour." That night I had spoken from the text: "Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and today, and forever," and I was glad that I could tell him the blessed Lord would never be a disappointment to him if he would completely trust Him. Jesus never turned his back on sinners who wanted to be saved from their sins. "They (the Jews) cast him out, (but) Jesus found him."
